My classes weave in elements of Yogic & Daoist theory and are infused with a love of music & rhythm. My classes aim to create a safe container so students can have an experience of themselves, whether in an energetic, creative Vinyasa class or a gentle, slow Yin class. Each class is a little journey inward, centering choice and curiosity within intelligent sequencing. It is my hope that by continuing to practice showing up for themselves, students will be able to better show up for others. In this way, the practice becomes a mirror for community care.

While the western yoga landscape has shifted over the years, I bring a consistent and thoughtful approach to this numinous practice. My 15 years of teaching is bolstered by my curiosity of what happens when people put their collective attention in one place. As a student I enjoy an intelligent flow & spaciousness to pause; as a teacher I enjoy a room where students can laugh & not take themselves too seriously. I invite the reverent and the ridiculous, believing we need both to stay grounded.

My enthusiasm for teaching lies in promoting mindfulness based movement as a practice tool to develop an acute awareness of the physical body and how it pertains to mental and emotional patterns. In my classes, I invite you to develop a deeper and more profound relationship with yourself through the exploration of Asana, Pranayama, and present-attention awareness. My classes reflect a blend of asana-styles as well as a focus on the gentle erosion of hard thought patterns through attention and intention.

I have been teaching yoga since 2000. I am a 500-hr level graduate of the Yoga Room Berkeley's Advanced Studies Program under Donald Moyer and Mary Lou Weprin. A nationally certified Alexander Technique teacher, I’ve served as a faculty member at the American Center for the Alexander Technique's teacher training program and have taught actors, athletes, writers, musicians, lawyers and yoga teachers in my private practice. I combine my practice of yoga, Alexander Technique, embodied anatomy and developmental movement into a lively somatic approach to self-expression and the body.

My classes are a mix of exploration, acceptance and rigor. Connecting breath and body, my goal is to facilitate each student in finding the root of their own practice, getting what they need from every class. Centered in love, class becomes a practice of kindness and gratitude for the body and soul. Empowering others and guiding students back to the truth of their practice is my full time job. By centering pleasure, rest, and rigorous self-study, I believe yoga can be a potent tool to dismantling harmful internalized social structures that keep us from true union. My classes are intended to create a warm and inclusive atmosphere for all people, while using the strength and power of my lineage as inspiration. I plan on making Yoga my lifelong work.

I’ve been an athlete my entire life; when I hung up my college basketball jersey, I struggled to find a way to move my body that was as enjoyable as it was challenging. I eventually found that group classes were it for me. I believe there is real magic in bodies moving together in one space. I am NASM certified and have been teaching spin since 2017 and matte classes since 2019. For me, class is an invitation to sweat, have some fun and build trust with your body all while moving to the beat of the music. Additionally, I completed my 200-hour YTT here at PYC this fall. I love getting to deepen my practice with the PYC community.

I believe Yoga is an invitation to enter into deep and loving relationship with all parts of ourselves. I began practicing in 2009 in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar with Melora Gregory and went on to graduate from Sonic Yoga's 200 hr and Illumina Yoga's 300 hr teacher trainings, both under the guidance of Johanna Bell. My classes are rooted in Tantric philosophy and hold the sentiment that the Divine can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Designed around a specific energetic theme, my flow classes weave together asana, dance-like moving metaphors and mudras, breath, mantra, mythology and archetypal energies, and music to explore the infinite wonder of nature and the depth of this human experience.

With a deep appreciation for intuitive movement and how it's supported me throughout different chapters of my life, my classes empower you to make choices that feel good. Expect a balance of sweet and spicy as we move through playful sequences curated to open the body and guide you inward. My classes are infused with Reiki as my intention is to create a nurturing space for self-care. In 2017, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training. I have Reiki Level 2 and am certified in yin yoga, yoga nidra and meditation. Outside of class you can find me dancing in heels, swimming in the ocean, designing marketing emails, fostering dogs, or finding Portland's best oat latte.

Growing up dancing, I always loved exploring the interconnection between artistry and athleticism. When I found group fitness classes, I immediately knew I found a space where I could feed that passion and get stronger at the same time. I started teaching yoga sculpt in early 2023 while living in Washington, DC, and am excited to continue my love for creative movement here in Portland with PYC Pilates. Outside the studio, I love hiking, going to concerts, and drinking cold brew.

I’ve been a certified group fitness instructor since 2016, and my favorite part of teaching is watching clients transform from the inside out. I love helping people find their inner strength and calm, so they feel empowered to take on new challenges both in class and in their day-to-day lives. Outside of work, you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors in (almost) all four seasons of Maine, while spending time with my husband, our daughter, and our energetic dog, Wynn.

In my classes I use cues to build sensitivity to our internal experience and to connect our consciousness to our physical body. My inspirations include yogic philosophy, queer liberation, lunar cycles, Buddhism and tarot. These influence the themes of class, and I'll often invite the practice of different intentions on the mat as a way to invite more of that energy into the rest of our day. In my class we'll move through shapes with intention, and invite pauses at the threshold of movement and change as an opportunity to rewire the brain towards soft awareness and tender presence.

In 2005, I began the practice, as many people do–hoping to strengthen and tone my muscles. In time, I got hooked not only on the physical benefits, but also on the mental and spiritual benefits. I was in an accident in 2017 and underwent surgery on my cervical spine. I used the practice of Restorative Yoga to help heal and rehabilitate my body and mind and get me through some dark times. I am passionate about sharing the healing benefits of this relaxing and restorative practice.

I bring over two decades of dedicated yoga practice to teaching and mentorship. I’m fascinated by the nuances and subtleties that yoga can offer and the ways in which it can foster a sense of both aliveness and steadiness. As a Taurus Rising, I crave slow, grounded practices that allow for an enlivening of sensory awareness. This is apparent in the yoga classes I teach and the modalities I’m drawn to. I’ve facilitated modules for 200 & 300-hr YTTs and developed a signature Restorative Yoga teacher training that is well-regarded among yoga teachers in Maine. I have an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Somatic Psychotherapy. I’m committed to empowering individuals through this integrative approach that uses the body-mind network to deepen self understanding and self awareness.

I am a lifelong athlete – from the rink to the turf, I can't get enough of the mental and physical demands that come with a consistent movement practice. In 2014, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher certification so I could share my love of movement with others. My classes involve building strength, trying new things and a constant invitation to be here in this moment. In 2021, I opened Portland Yoga Collective.
